The Australian Mark Steyn

Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. Tim doesn't have Mark's presence in print columns, nor Mark's hideously busy Web site design sense. But he is one Aussie I wouldn't mind tiliting a few mugs with. Actually I would drink beer with any Aussie...except maybe that girl I met in New Orleans who looked like Paul McCartney. It wouldn't have been so bad if my buddy hadn't pointed that awkward fact out to her. Anyway, that would be a little uncomfortable, I'd imagine. Oh, and the singer from Midnight Oil sounds like a bit of a tool as well - he'd probably drone on about the environment or some shit...not beer talk, buddy.

Where was I? Oh yeah, the Aussie Second Coming. Tim Blair on sheikhs...

The Collapse of the EU

Interesting post at Ankle Biting Pundits (via Instapundit). The comments are fairly good, too. Mr. Green's been to Europe - maybe he can shed some light.

Seat Projection

Here's an Excel Spreadsheet built by Don at All Things Canadian. Pop in regional poll numbers and calculate how that might translate into seats across the country.

Ahenakew and Nelson

Our old friend Raskolnikov is back - if you've never read his stuff before, he's an aboriginal from Winnipeg who doesn't exactly toe the Louis Stevenson line. Check it out...as Glenn Reynolds might say: Ouch...

101-280: Everybody Knows - 4: Clip and Save!

Nice roundup of the front pages of various Canadian newspapers the day after Gomery lifted the ban. I quite like the Winnipeg Sun's choice...

I like Justice!

I've always been in favour of justice...here's more proof:

You scored as Justice (Fairness).

Your life is guided by the concept of Fair Justice: Everyone, yourself included, should be rewarded and punished according to the help or harm they cause.

"He who does not punish evil commands it to be done."
--Leonardo da Vinci

“Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace.”
--Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Famous "Sushi Pants" story

I've only been this hammered a couple of times. It's not something you want to do a whole lot. I wish I'd had the old portable breathalyzer when I was younger. It would have made for some good stories. I did blow in the breathalyzer at The Pyramid way back when - I had about 12 beers and blew a 0.08...not too shabby. I can also assure you I didn't take a cab home that night either...

Publication Ban Lifted

Looks like Gomery has decided to partially lift the publication ban - the only parts still covered by the ban are those directly related to Brault's upcoming criminal fraud case. But you all probably knew that anyway.

On the other hand, with global warming, there should be lots of new territory opening up in previously frigid climates. Of course, with some DNA samples and gene sequencing, we should be able to recreate any species that manages to fumble its way into the dustbin of natural selection in the near future...we might also want to gengineer in some kind of gene that allows the "Horton Plains slender loris" to survive on food other than ripe guavaberries, or whatever ultra-niche food it eats.

If only capitalism and rule of law were a little more prevalent in Africa, the people wouldn't be forced to go "bushmeat hunting" so much as "Safewaymeat buying." But hey, all cultures are equal. Seacrest out!

Own Goal

"OWN GOAL"

If you're not reading Tim Blair on a regular basis, well, I understand - he's all the way in Australia and - wait...this is the Internet. You should check it out. I'd suggest skipping all the stuff about Aussie politics, but a lot of it is damn funny. For example, if you do a Google search for the phrase "Baldy McRich"...

You may safely skip the posts on cricket, however.

More "soft power" diplomacy I guess. Hope Lloyd is enjoying this...
